B Corp Certification: Our Commitment to Using Business for Good
At JBM Packaging, we strive to be a role model for businesses looking to positively impact the world, operating our business in a way that benefits people, our communities and the planet. This approach is intrinsic to how we do business—it’s embedded in the products we create, the materials we use, and how we interact with our customers, suppliers and team members.
As we continue to grow our impact, we are thrilled to announce that we have B Corp Certification. The certification brings together a global community of businesses leading a movement for an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy. Participating organizations must meet rigorous social and environmental performance standards, accountability and transparency. With this certification, we join a list of more than 2,400 U.S. companies, including Patagonia, Ben & Jerry’s, Toms and others, demonstrating high social and environmental performance activity.
In a world where an increasing number of companies claim to be “good” or “green,” this certification sets us apart and establishes our leadership in social and environmental performance.
What Is B Corp Certification?
Every B Corp is certified by B Lab, a nonprofit network dedicated to making all business a force for good, and helping transform the global economy to benefit all people, communities and the planet. Certification requires organizations to share their B Impact Assessment scores on the B Lab Global website. This ensures complete transparency and accountability.
To achieve certification, a company must:
- Demonstrate high social and environmental performance by achieving a B Impact Assessment score of 80 or above and passing our risk review. Multinational corporations must also meet baseline requirement standards.
- Make a legal commitment by changing their corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders.
- Exhibit transparency by allowing information about their performance measured against B Lab’s standards to be publicly available on their B Corp profile on B Lab’s website.

Why Is B Corp Important to Us?
Since the beginning of our Fair Chance program in 2015, we have strived to make a positive impact among our team members and within the communities we serve. We’ve refined our purpose, which is grounded in our belief that better solutions lead to better lives which, in turn, create a better world.
From our Fair Chance Program to our recently introduced EcoView product line, our on-staff Better Lives coach to our community garden, we continue to find ways to deliver on our purpose.
We knew it was a natural fit when we started the B Corp Certification process in early 2020. The certification serves as an external validation of our efforts, and helps differentiate our business from others. It also holds us accountable to the B Lab assessment board and our stakeholders—continuous improvement is an essential part of maintaining our certification, and we will continue to improve and prepare for recertification every three years.
While the process took us more than two years to complete, we successfully achieved a score of 93.1—far surpassing the minimum required.
Only the Beginning
We are so appreciative that our employees and customers choose to work with us and value the opportunity to use our business as a force for good. We welcome the continued support of those who want to join us in this effort.
With the vision to be a role model for other companies, we will continue to focus on improving our business processes and approaches in ways that not only help us do business better but in a way that benefits others.
We plan to become an advocate for the B Corp community, within our own backyard and throughout the world. On an operational level, we hope to continue reducing the environmental impact of our operations, and the impact of our customers’ businesses by helping them transition to plastic-free packaging.
